Built on the site of a former bird sanctuary in Kissimmee, Fla., Johnston Springs RV Campground is set on over 50 acres that include two large, stocked ponds for catch and release fishing, fire pits ideal for sharing ghost stories and a new BBQ pavilion. The campground offers a choice of full-service sites, partial service sites and primitive camping sites. Its premium sites are huge, measuring 50 feet wide and from 96 to 156 feet long, each one including an 8 x 20’ slab.
New owners purchased the campground late last year and extensive renovations are well underway.
“We’re going through a lot of changes,” says General Manager Lynn Merrell. “We are actually just in the middle of putting a brand-new volleyball area up. We put a new gate system in and a new road. We’ve done a lot of renovations. We’ve completely remodeled our bath houses and we’ve put brand new washers and dryers in there. We’ve also put in a brand-new office. Slowly, but surely, we’re coming together. There was a lot of work to be done when the park was bought, so we’ve been very busy.”
Other amenities at the campground include a brand-new clubhouse, nature paths, a playground, onsite boat and RV storage and a propane fill station. Plans to add a gym, pool, cornhole and life-sized chess games and an RV wash are also underway.
Johnston Springs RV Campground offers a peaceful sanctuary amid the hustle and bustle of Central Florida, yet it is only 45 minutes or less away from major attractions such as Disney world, EPCOT, Universal Studios and Sea World. When you visit the campground on the Takeaway Tour, you’ll discover why they call it “Florida’s Best Kept Secret.” It is a family-owned business that truly appreciates all of its new and returning guests.
