NFPA 1194® Standard for Recreational Vehicle Parks and Campgrounds
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is a United States trade association that creates and maintains private, copyrighted, standards and codes for usage and adoption by local governments. NFPA 1194® Standard for Recreational Vehicle Parks and Campgrounds provides codes and standards related to the operation of RV Parks and Campgrounds. OHI has representatives on the Technical Committee on Recreational Vehicles NFPA 1192/1194 which oversees standards development for both Recreational Vehicles and Recreational Vehicle Parks and Campgrounds. We also offer a Certificate for NFPA 1194® through a course designed to ensure that park owners and operators have in-depth knowledge of the current standards for the design and construction of RV parks and campgrounds as outlined by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). The course also examines the elements of the NFPA 1194 standard that cover public safety, electrical, facilities, fire protection and water and sanitation. Enforced in all 50 states, NFPA 70, National Electrical Code (NEC) is the benchmark for safe electrical design, installation, and inspection to protect people and property from electrical hazards. OHI has representation on the NFPA 70 – National Electric Code (NEC) Panel 07 that is responsible for code development for Chapter 5 Special Occupancies Article 551 Recreational Vehicles and Recreational Vehicle Parks.
